Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el-Tayyeb decided on Monday to refer a UN document designed to combat violence against women to the Senior Scholars Authority for discussion. The authority will announce its stance soon wehther to approve or reject it, an official source in Al-Azhar said. Al-Azhar will never approve any agreement that contravenes Sharia, he added.
