Unidentified gunmen burst into a college compound northeastern Baghdad after a suicide bomber blew himself up at the its gate on Sunday, a security source said. The gunmen, who opened fire indiscriminately at students of Imam Al-Kathem Faculty, held a number of others and teachers as hostages inside the building. Policemen sealed off the college faculty, located in Or district, and a large number of security troops were deployed around the building. Gunshots rang out from inside the building where the hostages were being held at gunpoint.
