Al Qasimiya University

Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has stressed that countering of subversive ideas that distort the history of Islamic civilisation can be done through cultural thought, preservation of documents and manuscripts that demonstrate the essence of the Islamic and Arab civilisations.

He made the remarks during a TV interview after he handed over the third batch of manuscripts and documents to the Al Qasimia University ahead of transferring them to the House of Islamic Manuscripts at the university.

These manuscripts and documents are the most precious historical manuscripts. They are personal collections of the Ruler of Sharjah gathered during his visits to various countries of the world. They date back to 300 to 400 years.

Sheikh Sultan said the manuscripts transferred to Al Qasimiya University, most of which are original, are in good condition, adding that they focus on religious sciences. He noted that he possesses a set of scientific manuscripts that preserve history and scientific achievements by Arab and Muslim scientists.

The Ruler of Sharjah underlined that the manuscripts are source of scientific research, as they serve the Arabic language and Islamic studies to demonstrate the documented genuine history of the Arab achievements.

He was accompanied during the tour by Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of Protocol and Hospitality Department, Ali Al Marri, General Manager of Sultan Al Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies (Dara), Jamal Al Tarifi, Adviser in the Ruler's office, Dr. Rashad Salem, Vice Chancellor of Al Qasimiya University and a number of officials.
