The 1030 undergraduate and postgraduate students of Abu Dhabi University will be celebrating their graduation on Monday, the 19th of May at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of Abu Dhabi University's Board of Trustees, the ceremony will commemorate the hard work of 642 undergraduate students and 388 postgraduate students as well as the graduation of ADU's first student from the Doctor of Business Administration Programme. The 8th graduating cohort also includes 172 honour students from the College of Arts and Sciences, 107 honour students from the College of Business Administration and 63 honour students from the College of Engineering. Commenting on the significance of this celebration, Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Abu Dhabi University's Executive Board stressed that graduations have always been important occasions for the University. "Graduations give ADU the opportunity to provide the UAE's vibrant labour market with individuals who are specialised in various specialisations and applied sciences and trained to serve the community as their predecessors of ADU graduates. Furthermore, the graduation of the 8th cohort is a vital addition to the University's journey of excellence as demonstrated by the 342 students who are graduating with honors this year. They exemplify the University's dedication to high quality education and reinforces its status as a national higher education institution that applies international standards and meets the policy agenda of Abu Dhabi's Government and its Economic Vision 2030", added Bin Harmal. He went on to explain that the graduation of the 8th cohort from Abu Dhabi University is of special significance this year as it coincides with the University's celebrations of its 10th year anniversary since its inception in 2003. "ADU first opened its doors in 2003 to enroll 852 students in 7 undergraduate programs. Today, we have more than 6000 students in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain enrolled in more than 26 undergraduate and 9 postgraduate programs in addition to the DBA. Abu Dhabi University's achievements throughout its relatively young history doubles its responsibility to ensure quality performance and international learning outcomes through its various top-notch academic programs. This is clearly reflected in the considerable effort put forth by our students, faculty and staff to ensure ADU play its role as an academic leader in higher education", concluded Bin Harmal.
