The Electrocardiogram (ECG) Workshop, organised by the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences for medical students at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), with the participation of over 65 doctors and students from the College of Medicine, was recently concluded.
Cardiology Consultant, Chairman of the Internal Medicine Department at the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Dr Taysir Jaradah said that AGU continues to organise specialised workshops in various medical fields throughout the academic year.
“These update medical students on everything new, in order to enhance scientific knowledge of modern treatment procedures and provide participants with the latest information and techniques based on medical studies and partnerships with medical institutions,” he said, adding: “Additionally, they maintain medical communication, enriching cooperation and coordination in order to provide the best means of care for patients in the future, as well as focusing on the provision of medical care built on quality, efficiency and sound awareness in general”.
The workshop was attended by a number of cardiologists in the Kingdom of Bahrain, with the participation of Dr Taysir Jaradah and Dr Zakariya Hubail from AGU and Dr Syed Reza from Awali Hospital. They presented detailed explanations of all materials pertaining to ECG and various heart disease, as well as atrial fibrillation and ventricular hypertrophy, their detection and treatment.
Dr Jaradah said that attending this workshop helps resident doctors and students in their final years to better analyse and diagnose ECG changes, which are especially significant in the early detection of heart attacks, and determining the size of the heart and its impact on many diseases. The workshop, he pointed out, is the core of medical work of the Medical Skills and Simulation Centre, soon to be launched at AGU in order to raise the level of outstanding medical performance by college students and doctors in general.
