President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reviewed on Monday ways of using science to achieve development in Egypt.
This came in a meeting held at the presidential palace in Heliopolis with Scientific Research Minister Sherif Hammad, Head of Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) Mahmoud Saqr and the CEO of the Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF) Amr Adly.
The meeting tackled the scientific research process in Egypt and a number of projects which were carried out through advanced sciences to achieve economic development, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
The spokesman said that the meeting reviewed mechanisms of the strategic planning of the scientific research system in Egypt.
The meeting also took up water desalination technology and its uses in the irrigation and agricultural development projects.
The president showed special interest in finding solutions to the pollution problem in Egypt, Youssef pointed out.
He issued directives to attach great attention to young researchers in all fields and hold meetings with them to get acquainted with their inventions.
The president also stressed his interest in the project of the Egyptian young people academy for science affiliated to ASRT.
