HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani patronized the 2017 Education Excellence Day ceremony which took place at Doha Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday.
The ceremony was attended by a number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs, Ministers, Ambassadors accredited to the state, senior education officials, parents of the outstanding students and guests.
Addressin the ceremony, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Wahid Al Hammadi highlighted the Ministry's approach to achieve quality and excellence in all phases of the educational system.
He said that excellence and creativity are the fruits of achieving quality, noting that the Education Excellence award is one of the incentives and effective programs to encourage the talented.
HE the Minister underlined that the Education Excellence Award, as the highest academic honor awarded to individuals and distinguished educational institutions in the State, has succeeded in the consolidation of excellence, creativity and innovation in the field of education through setting up global standards of excellence and quality programs that contributed to the improvement of the educational process outputs.
HE the Minister noted that a total of four hundred and twenty-five talented were honored with the award, among them one hundred and eighty in the Secondary degree category, one hundred and sixteen in the University degree category, and twenty-three in the Ph.D. category, in addition to other talented in the primary and preparatory phases, scientific research, outstanding school and outstanding teacher.
The increasing numbers of Qatari ambitious talented underlined undoubtedly that the investment in human is the real investment, and that giving attention to the talents is the main investment to build a generation of talented and qualified young people, in accordance to Qatar National Vision 2030 and the directives of the wise leadership of Qatar, HE the Minister stressed.
On behalf of the honored, excellence award winner in the platinum preparatory student category, Abdullah Khalid Al Kaabi, stressed the significance of the Education Excellence award in encouraging Qatari students to exert more efforts in learning and obtaining the highest scientific degrees.
He underlined that the State of Qatar needs the support of its sons and daughters in its confident progress towards a bright future, noting that all Qatari citizens have the right to be proud of Qatar's development and accomplishments in all fields and at all levels.
A film about the history of the award and its development during the past ten years (since 2006-2007 to 2016-2017) were displayed during the ceremony, in addition to a film about the outstanding winners this year, 46 distinct in the various award categories.
HH the Emir then honored winners of the Education Excellence Day award for the academic year 2017.
