The preparatory meeting of the Undersecretaries of the GCC Education Ministries kicked off here on Wednesday ahead of the first meeting of the committee of the GCC Education Ministers that will take place in Doha on Thursday.
The Kuwaiti Education Ministry's Undersecretary Dr. Mariam Al-Wtaid told (KUNA) that the preparatory meeting tackled many issues related to education and learning fields in GCC countries and set them up for discussion in tomorrow's meeting.
She added that the agenda of the meeting mainly included a strategy by GCC general secretariat and the Arab Bureau for Education in the Gulf States (ABEGS) for the development of education in the region, combating smoking at schools, the encouragement of voluntary activities in schools and in communities and the exchange of expertise among the six members of the GCC.
On his part, Qatari Education Ministry Undersecretary Rabea Al-Ka'bi pointed out that establishing a committee of the GCC Education Ministers is essential to promoting joint cooperation and setting up educational policies and visions.
