Education Minister Mahmoud Abul Nasr

- Education Minister Mahmoud Abul Nasr honored on Wednesday two young women who managed to overcome their illiteracy and till they graduated from university.
The minister met the two sisters, identified as Mariam and Eman Saeed, at his office, lauding their persistence to move from illiteracy to university education.
He ordered appointing them in the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education, promising that the ministry will pay for the Master' Degree fees of one of the young women.
"We were deprived from education when we were children, and we were crying whenever we see students going to school," they said. We took our decision and joined literacy classes then we enrolled in the primary and secondary stages till we entered college."
The pair are graduates of Education and Social Service faculties.
According to a 2013 report of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), there are 17.2 million illiterates in Egypt with Upper Egyptian governorates having the highest rate.
