Manama - BNA
Education Minister Majid bin Ali al Nuaimi attended the Shura Council's weekly session, devoted to discussing a number of amendments to Bahrain's 1976 Penal Code.
Representing the government, the minister expressed the government's point of view on these amendments, pointing out that there are many changes still under study and review.
The minister requested the Shura members not to rush in passing these amendments in order for the government to review them in an integrated manner, so as to achieve common goals and public interest.
He underscored the importance of harsher punishment in remarkably increasing crimes like the assault and battery of public employees, divulging secrets and the incitement and exploitation of children.
He said penalties would be stricter in the light of a comprehensive and integrated vision to maintain the law system and commended the Shura's efforts in developing laws.
