The Arab League (AL)'s Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) on Tuesday called for laying out a strategy for educational reforms in the Arab world.
The focal point of the educational process should be to constantly update it to keep abreast with changes in education worldwide, said ALECSO director Dr. Abdullah Muhareb in a speech at a forum organized by the organization he heads.

The forum addresses ways of implementing reforms in the educational systems in the Arab world, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

He said reforms must include streamlining if not totally overhauling curricula and methods of teaching in Arab schools with the objective of instigating and achieving sustainable development. He stressed the notion that with improved educational teaching in Arab schools, extremism and terrorism would be challenged head-on. He asked that the entire approach to education be well spent-on and geared toward creating a generation that shuns extremism and terrorism.

Speaking at the same forum, director general for Islamic Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Twaijri said there should be emphasis on blending a proper education with principles of
sustainable development. He affirmed the need to create a more progressive generation of students who could handle the demands and challenges of the age we all live in, dominated by science, technology, and innovation, KUNA reported.
