The Government of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed, the Sultan of Oman, provided an endowment grant in support of His Majesty’s Chair in the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) for Desert Agriculture. The Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdullah bin Rashid Al-Medailwi delivered more than BD 1,200,000 to the AGU President Dr. Khalid bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Ohali in his office and conveyed to him greetings from Oman's Higher Education Minister Dr. Rawiya Al-Bu Saeedi, praising the role undertaken by the University in academic and strategic research studies related to Arabian Gulf community development as a successful model for GCC cooperation. Dr. Al-Ohali praised Government of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed supporting the University's strategic plan, pointing out that the University plans to generalize the experiment aimed to boost its role in GCC development projects. The Desert Agriculture Chair of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed, the Sultan of Oman, was established in October 1994. (IY)
