The first batch for this school year of students from the occupied Syrian Golan crossed over via the crossing point at Quneitra to enroll in Syrian universities and institutes. The 35 students\' crossing was supervised by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the UN forces operating in the Golan. Relatives of the students wished them luck and their study and safe return to the Golan, voicing hope that the ordeal in Syria will end soon. Governor of Quneitra Maen Salaheddin voiced pride in the heroic steadfastness of the people of the occupied Syrian Golan in the face if Israeli terrorism, lauding their commitment to their Syrian identity. He noted that the students\' enrollment in Syrian universities despite the methodical exaggeration about what is happening in Syria proves the strength of the sense of nationalism among the people of the Golan. The Damascus University scholarship for the people of the occupied Syrian Golan, which was launched in the 1980s, is considered one of the most important forms of support provided to the people of the Golan, with thousands of students from the Golan graduating from Syrian universities where they receive free housing, textbooks and other services. The crossing of students is scheduled to continue throughout the remainder of August.
