Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has approved 180 scholarships for nationals seeking to complete their higher education to obtain a master’s degree in addition to five scholarships for nationals seeking to obtain doctorates in different majors at the University of Sharjah and 9 scholarships at the American University of Sharjah. During a telephone conversation yesterday on the Direct Line programme aired live on Sharjah Radio and TV, Dr Hamid Al Nuaimi, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, University of Sharjah, announced that the university received a large number of applications, which were now under consideration, adding that some of these applications would be accepted as per the capacity and admission conditions of each programme. Al Nuaimi pointed out that the university saw a large turnout of students for this academic semester, noting that as many as 2,500 male and female students were enrolled in the different colleges. Some 803 male and female students who obtained government scholarships supervised by Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority would be added to the total number of students, bringing to 3,300 the total number of registrants in this semester, up by more than 1,300 over the corresponding semester last year, he said. gulftoday .
