The Information Technology Department at the Supreme Education Council (SEC) will organize on Monday an awareness campaign in the summer centers aiming at introducing the e-learning initiative in the Independent Schools. The campaign will highlight the importance of technology in education and shed light on the SEC e-learning initiative and its different programs. The campaign also aims at raising awareness of the positive usage of technology in everyday life and the challenges facing the rising generation in the uses of technology. The campaign, which last till July 19, includes several lectures brochures on the e-learning system and its goals, in the different summer centers. In the framework of preparing schools to implement the e-learning initiative, a team from Information Technology Department inspected lately all schools’ buildings in the country to ensure its readiness, including upgrading and developing infrastructure and networks in addition to providing the required equipment according to latest technology. In the same context, the SEC started applying the e-learning portal project, LMS, in thirty independent schools. The project aims to create an effective link between the parties of the educational process (students, teachers, parents, school administration and SEC) electronically and devoid from routine. The portal enables the teachers to prepare their lessons electronically and upload the electronic contents that students can at anytime and anywhere. The projects are part of the comprehensive e-learning strategy that is adopted by the SEC that aims to improve and develop the quality of teaching and learning toward excellence through integrated technology and a set of digital educational systems. The e-learning system includes several integrated programs aim to provide digital content (images, videos and audio recordings and etc), a personal device to students and teachers that enable them to access e-systems and e-content, and an e-Library that is based on the establishment of an electronic library that consists of a library management system and access to digital resources (including subscription to available resources, video and media to enable students and lifelong learners).
