Forty-six schools across Sharjah will be realigned to a new model school concept by the beginning of academic year 2013, benefiting 13,000 students in line with the directive of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. Dr Humaid Bin Mohammed, minister of education, has issued a decree setting up a committee to implement the directive. Under the Model School concept, faculty across the schools will impart quality education in line with international standards, providing a trusted and competent avenue for grooming students into independent, socially responsible and well-rounded adults. Dr Abdullah Al Suwaiji, chairman of Sharjah Education Council, said: “A meeting was held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Education under the chairmanship of Dr Al Qutami to chart a roadmap for achieving the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.” Mandated to ensure the quick and effective implementation of the initiative, the committee is also tasked with developing regulatory frameworks for co-ordination between relevant authorities and stakeholders. Towards this end, the committee will be required to facilitate information and data exchange between all authorities that are involved in implementing the initiative. In co-operation with the University of Sharjah, the committee will then train teachers and advance their professional skills, which would help promote a model school environment that simulates students.
