Educate A Child’ global initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) Board of Trustees Chairperson HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser to deliver quality schooling children missing out on basic education, has gained widescaled acclaim from experts and education specialists and academics. Educate A Child initiative targets 61 million children missing out on basic education due to poverty, conflict, natural disaster and prejudice and is hoped to deliver real progress towards the goal of bringing quality primary education to all the world’s children. Several dignitaries among education decision-makers, thought leaders and practitioners said they believe the initiative will help achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals in ensuring that children from both genders complete primary schooling by 2015. A number of strategic partners for the initiative spoke about its importance during the special session of the Doha-based World Innovation Summit on Education (WISE) that witnessed the launch of the initiative. Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who serves now as the U.N. Secretary General Special Envoy for Global Education, said that HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser’s initiative fosters the support for the right of education for all children around the world. Addressing the audience, Brown congratulated HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser for giving hope to every child deprived of education. Brown said the world now has a chance to achieve the Millennium Development Goals on education, noting that the U.N. secretary general will meet World Bank officials to set a plan that guarantees providing an education chance for every child.
