Work on the new facilities being set up at the library of the Diwan of Royal Court is nearing completion with an additional floor consisting of an e-library, a library for both English and Arabic languages, children\'s library, multi-purpose hall, discussion room and Internet services, according to a Diwan official. Said bin Othman al Mejaini, Library Affairs Director at the Diwan of Royal Court, said the additional floor with all its services is expected to be open to the public as soon as the facilities are set up. He added that it has been built in such a way that the physically challenged can move between the building’s floors by using an electric escalator. Earlier this year the library had subscribed to several electronic data bases in both English and Arabic to cater to the needs of a wide segment of readers. They include educational periodicals Proquest which comprises 3,000 periodicals in English covering various scientific fields. We also have a subscription to e-brary which offers approximately 65,000 e-books of different fields, besides many more useful sites for researchers and intellectuals, said Al Mejaini.
