Alongside insightful field research and environment conservation projects, the 130-year old BNHS India has also been doing pioneering work in the area of nature education. It has completed 20 years of persistent nature education activities through its Conservation Education Centre (CEC) in Goregaon in Mumbai. Nature education plays a vital role in creating awareness among the general public, including students and teachers, about the importance of conservation and sustainable living. This year BNHS India is celebrating the completion of 20 years of nature education, on the Foundation Day of BNHS CEC, which is on September 21 2013. As part of the celebration a day-long Conservation Education Seminar on “Promotion of Environmental Literacy in Maharashtra” has been organised in collaboration with United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF). BNHS CEC has observed that several institutions and individuals have been working in their respective areas in the field of nature education. Source: Education News
