Three Asian students are being tried for the alleged theft of two mobile phones belonging to their part-time employer at Dubai International Airport. Both MJ, 20, and CK, 22, reportedly misutilised their position at the prominent outlet and reportedly carried out the thefts. On the other hand, the third suspect, AK, 21 is accused of abetting the crime.   According to the store’s Indian marketing director, MD, 46: “Two mobiles worth Dhs5, 548 were taken at around 8.00pm.” He said that the prime suspects were the three workers who were present at the time of theft. Corporal Ibrahim Mohamed had earlier told prosecutors that “following a tip-off we arrested the trio and on questioning one of the suspects, MJ, he voluntarily confessed to the theft.” Another suspect, CK, gave him a white HTC phone to take out of the store to be sold to outsiders. They decided to share the money equally. MJ also confessed to stealing an iPhone4 in corroboration with the third suspect, CK. “CK offered it to AK to sell it and share the money with him,” testified Corporal Mohamed. Meanwhile, during Thursday’s hearing at the Dubai Criminal Court, the three suspects refuted the accusations and their lawyer requested for ample time to prepare their defence documents. Besides, he also requested that the case would be referred to the court of misdemeanours. Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Llatif has set Jan.5 for the next hearing.
