About 1,000 people took part in an alcohol-fueled riot at off-campus housing at the University of Dayton, Ohio, leading to one arrest, campus police said. Campus police responded to the report of a fire alarm in the student campus housing area on Kiefaber Street known as the UD ghetto, early Sunday, the Dayton Daily News reported. When police arrived, a large gathering of about 1,000 people began hurling beer bottles at them. Police called for backup from 10 other jurisdictions. Some of the rioters began jumping on top of cars during the incident, damaging 11 vehicles including a police cruiser, the newspaper reported. \"We would describe what happened as a disturbance,\" said Andy Booher, a lieutenant with the Dayton Police Department. \"It was quickly contained because of the response by university police and other jurisdictions.\" One person -- who was not affiliated with the university -- was arrested and is expected to be charged with underage drinking and public intoxication, said Teri Rizvi, a university spokeswoman. No injuries were reported
