Saudi hackers have made their mark in the international arena by hacking the personal Twitter and Pinterest accounts of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Experts in the electronic security field considered the hacking to be proof that there is no such thing as “security of information,” local media reported on Friday.
The group also claimed that they had hacked Zuckerberg’s Instagram account, but Facebook issued a formal statement denying it, the media report said.
Twitter was reportedly quick to respond to the news of the hacking by reclaiming his account and deleting the message left on the page by the hackers. The platform also suspended the hacker’s account on Twitter.
The hackers left a message on Zuckerberg’s webpage, informing him that they had accessed his account and asking him to communicate with them. They also confirmed that they obtained his LinkedIn password through a recent LinkedIn security breach.
Last month, a number of press reports said that some 117 million usernames and passwords for LinkedIn had been stolen and sold in the black market; while the platform tried to urge users to secure their account profiles individually on the site, it appeared this was too little, too late.
