Website operators can no longer keep resident registration numbers that had been collected in their servers after a two-year grace period expired on Sunday, the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) said.
The data privacy law was enacted in August 2012 as part of government efforts to prevent identity theft following a series of hackings into the nation's large portals and financial companies.
