Jordanian State Minister for Media Affairs and Communications and Government Spokesperson Samih Maayteh said blocking the electronic website that will be licensed in line with the provisions of the law, is the mandate of the judiciary. In a press statement quoted by Jordan News Agency (Petra), on Thursday on the mandate of blocking electronic websites that are subject to the Draft Press and Publications Law referred by the government to the Lower House, he said the government is committed to the constitutional principle which bars the cancellation of media- outlet licenses without a judicial order. Maayteh said the draft bill does not impose any restrictions or penalties on electronic websites, noting that streamlining work of online media would serve the media sector and its personnel.
