Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jibe at main opposition Congress party's second-in-command Rahul Gandhi on Friday, saying the Nehru-Gandhi scion is the biggest political joke on Google.
Attacking Gandhi at a political rally in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, the prime minister said that the Congress vice president lacked understanding of issues faced by the farmers.
"Some leaders want to make potatoes in factories. What can be expected from such leaders? They cannot work for the welfare of farmers, they don't know what farming is," Modi said, addressing the rally in the town of Bijnor.
He added: "There is this Congress leader known for his childish acts. If you Google, you will see the number of jokes on him. No other leader is the target of as many jokes as this Congress leader. Because of his acts, even senior Congress leaders prefer to maintain distance from him."
The politically important state of Uttar Pradesh goes to polls this month and it will be a sort of electoral referendum for Modi's demonetisation move.
In November, the prime minister from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced scrapping of currency notes of higher denominations in a sudden televised address to nation.
