Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Monday that the comprehensive services of Google, a multinational corporation specializing in Internet-related services and products including search, cloud computing, software, and online advertising technologies, are great contribution and a valuable gift to humanity. President Gul receiving the vice director of Google Vinton Gray Cerf, reminded that he had a chance to try the drone designed by Google, and said "This and many similar designs by Google contribute to the development and advancement of humanity to a significant extent." Underlining that globalization is closely related to the widespread use of Internet, President Gul said that Turkey is one of the countries with the highest rate of Internet usage thanks to its dynamic and young population and Turkey is a successful exemplar as the first country giving visa online. Speaking at the meeting, Google vice director Vinton Gray Cerf said that they are in an effort to present the Internet to the service of humanity without getting into restrictive issues such as intellectual property rights or patent issues. Cerf, as an example to their effort, said Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web. In addition to traditional course materials such as videos, readings and problem sets, MOOCs provide interactive user forums that help build a community for the students, professors, and teaching assistants. Cerf also talked about the economic and cultural contribution of the Google to the world.
