Clint Eastwood joked about Caitlyn Jenner at the Guys' Choice 2015 awards Saturday night, and Spike TV isn't having it.
The network says it will edit-out an unwelcome joke Eastwood made about Jenner while introducing Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for an award. USA Today confirms that while comparing Johnson to other notable athletes of the past who became actors, the 85-year-old director listed "Jim Brown and Caitlyn somebody...."
Hollywood Life reports that audience members responded with groans of disapproval.
Caitlyn Jenner, 65, formally known as Bruce, made her debut as a transgender woman via the cover of Vanity Fair on June 1. Although being publicly supported by many celebrities, some like Snoop Dogg and Drake Bell shared less-than-supportive sentiments. Bell later apologized for saying he was still going to call Caitlyn "Bruce" after her transition.
Spike TV Senior Vice President David Schwarz wrote in an email to the outlet that the channel will "remove [Eastwood's] reference in the version that will air" June 18.
