Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West

Kim Kardashian is about to become a mother of two, and as she prepares to give birth again, she says it's important for her children to be ready to handle the family's high-profile lifestyle.

"It's about teaching our kids that it's a different world," she said in an interview with C Magazine for its September issue. "There's social media where you can be scrutinized. Our kids are too young, but [for] our sisters Kendall and Kylie -- they're teenagers...that's just what teenagers do."

Kardashian said the scrutiny can take a toll, however, saying it's "hard on your soul." She hopes her children will be well-prepared to face impending criticism. "I really believe they can," she said. "It's just about raising strong children."

The pregnant Kardashian and her husband, rapper and fashion designer Kanye West, struggled with conceiving the second time around. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star said it took "over a year of trying, and I had so many complications."

"I had this condition called placenta accreta. There were a couple of little operations to fix all that, so that created a little hole in my uterus, which I think made it really tough to get pregnant again," she explained. "It was a long road...I was trying everything."

The stress caused by the struggle took "the fun" out of conceiving, Kardashian said. "I'm like, 'I'm ovulating, get home now!' He'd be like, 'Wait, I'm in the studio.'"

The couple announced the pregnancy through a promotional clip for the E! reality show in May. Due to the show's lag in its schedule, Kardashian then was pregnant for at least three to six months at the time.
