The information department of Iran's Embassy in Tunis expressed amazement at the broadcast recently by Tunisian private TV channel "Nessma" of the French-Iranian animated film entitled "Persepolis," describing this film as heretical since it denigrates Islam and provides a fake image of the Iranian society. In a communiqué published Tuesday, the information department of the Iranian Embassy affirmed that it had contacted officials to ban the screening of the film and sent a written claim to "Nessma TV" station inviting it to reconsider the decision to broadcast this film. The communiqué reminded that the animated film had been produced in French language in Europe by a French Director of Iranian origin and is part of a series of attempts these last years by the international media lobby to "denigrate Islam and religious beliefs."
