NMC

The National Media Council, NMC, will participate in the 36th Sharjah International Book Fair at the Expo Centre Sharjah, which will begin tomorrow and conclude on 11th November, with the objective of highlighting its role in managing the media sector, strengthening the publishing industry and improving media content in the country.

The NMC’s presence in the cultural event is aimed at informing other participants and visitors at the fair about its organisational and legislative role in the media sector, especially after the two resolutions made by the UAE Cabinet recently regarding media content and licenses.

During the fair, the Council will launch an activity, titled, "Emirati Pens," which will allow several Emirati writers, in co-operation with publishing houses, to sign their new books at the Council’s stand, with the aim of highlighting their national literary works and introducing them to the visitors.

The Council will also participate in a series of cultural, literary and media activities, in line with its role of supporting the cultural development and promoting the country’s position, as an ideal platform to support authors and artists and develop the publishing industry.

These activities will involve several workshops, including one titled, "How to Protect Your Book," which will focus on how to protect works of literature from piracy, as well as intellectual property rights.

The Council will also organise, in co-operation with the Emirates Publishers Association, a workshop, titled, "The Age Classification of the Content," which will demonstrate the age classification system to a group of publishers who are members of the association, as well as another workshop, titled, "How to Turn a Novel into a Film."

The Council will offer, through the Customers Happiness Centre at its stand, no. M10, in Hall 5, its services to visitors, from 4 pm to 10 pm throughout the entire fair.
