The 88th session of the Arab media permanent committee kicked off here on Monday under the chairmanship of Saudi Ministry of Culture and Media Undersecretary Abdel Mohsen Elias.
Assistant Arab League Secretary General for Media and Communication Sector Haifaa Abu Ghazala is taking part in the session along with unions and organizations concerned with media and officials of the Arab media council.
Addressing the committee session, Elias underlined the importance of the meeting in addressing the role of Arab media in standing against the phenomenon of terrorism that has become an increasing threat to the security and the stability of the region and the whole world.
The session will also probe means of backing the Palestinian issue in the Arab media.
Meanwhile, Abu Ghazala said the Arab media should play a role in improving the image of Muslims and Arabs in the western media as well as the necessity of giving priority to the Palestinian issue, protection of Islamic and Christian sanctities as well as the need to stand against the repressive Israeli measures against the Palestinians in the occupied territories.
