Yamaha has just unveiled its brand new triple-powered motorcycle - and it\'s an 850 naked bike called the MT-09. In a move that separates Yamaha from the rest of the Japanese bike brands (although not Triumph) it has abandoned the in-line four in an effort to breathe more life into its models. Why has it done this? Yamaha needs a unique selling point to distinguish itself from the \'run of the mill\' middleweights and hopefully promote sales. So what have we got? The 847cc triple makes 115hp, 63lb ft and comes with a \'ride by wire\' throttle and variable power modes. Other than that, and the fact it has radial brakes, 10-spoke wheels and a horizontally mounted shock, details are limited aside from the 188kg weight and 14-litre tank. What is clear from the video however is that Yamaha is busy trying to display this machine as \'fun\' and \'cool\' - it\'s not often you see wheelies in a promotional video from a Japanese manufacturer...
