One of the slowest, most ordinary so-called sports cars to come out of China has become a tuning sensation.Manufactured by Chinese automaker Geely Automobile with a bit of help from Daewoo, the Geely BL was first introduced in 2003 to China as the Meirenbao. Best known outside the country for its in-car karaoke machine, the Chinese consider the Geely BL to be a sports car despite the fact its 1.3-liter Toyota-designed engine produces a mere 84hp and 81lb-ft of torque and reaches a top speed of 93mph.As you can imagine, the car never took off, even after the price was slashed from $17,000 to $11,000, and in 2008 the Leopard lost its spots and was abruptly and humanely put down. For reasons unknown, the Beauty Leopard has become a hit with the tuning community who perhaps feel the relatively sporty body deserves some TLC and a bit more grunt. Here is a selection of some of the best currently prowling the streets of China.
