Hundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Monday launched the new fluidic Elantra sedan.  Elantra comes in 7 variants — three petrol and four diesel — and in six colours. The base price of the petrol-run car is Rs12.51 lakh and the top end costs 15.85 lakh. The starting price for the diesel variant is Rs12.91 lakh, while the top end automatic variant costs Rs15.85 lakh. The prices are introductory and ex-showroom Delhi. The petrol engine produces 150 bhp while the diesel engine, shared with the Verna, churns out 126 bhp. Both engines are mated to six speed automatic or manual gear transmission. The Elantra was first launched in India in 2004 but was discontinued in 2007 apparently due to poor demand. However, the company is confident that the sedan’s second innings would be a success. “It is a global car and has been packaged intelligently. It has won laurels around the world and we are confident that it will perform well here,” Nalin Kapoor, HMIL senior general manager said. The fifth generation Elantra boasts of features like front ventilates seats, rear parking camera, push start button, cruise control etc. From:Gulftoday
