Starting from next month there will be a hot new Focus out in the British market, the 2012 Ford Focus ST. Alright, so the ST is only semi-hot, compared to the RS version, but with a base price of  £21,995 and 250 hp, it is such a tempting proposition. What’s more, after the rather dull-looking second-gen Focus, the new ST also looks good, and it’s better equipped than ever. The UK-spec Focus ST comes as standard with Ford Power keyless start, Recaro seats, DAB radio, Bluetooth and 18in alloy wheels, with the range-topping ST3 model adding heated, leather seats, Bi-Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights and keyless entry. Additional sports styling options include rado-grey alloys wheels, red brake callipers and illuminated scuff plates. Ford, thinking of young fellas who like to have a fun car but can’t because they have kids, also offers the new ST in estate body style. It’s not going to be as much as as the hatchback, but compared to an ordinary estate, it is superb. The engine powering both versions is a 2.0-litre, all-alloy, turbocharged, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, which as mentioned delivers 250 PS. It does so while returning 39.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 169g/km. Pretty amazing.
