Production of new diesel engines from Volvo for the European market will start next month. The company is expecting sub-120g/km C02 emissions range wide for “almost all” of its diesel-powered offerings in the Model Year 2013 line up, according to press information out of Europe. Unfortunately the engine range revision does not apply to Australian-delivered Volvo models “for the foreseeable time”. Volvo Cars Australia spokespersons mentioned concerns about potential confusion among dealers and customers regarding the change to Volvo’s naming system upon receiving the new engine range. Early 2010 we reported the revised nomenclature introduced with the new S60. Since then, according to Volvo improvements made to the diesel and petrol engine lineup over the past two years have helped lower C02 emissions by 13 per cent. The MY13 roll-out will also include new wheel designs and additional driver assistance features, such as tunnel detection and active high beam technology.
