A BYD e6 electric taxi burst into flames following a collision with a Nissan GT-R in the Chinese city of Shenzhen on May 26. China Car Times reports that the driver of the GT-R might have been drag-racing while intoxicated. The Nissan was reportedly traveling at between 90 mph and 125 mph when it hit the BYD. The driver and two passengers in the taxi were killed. On Monday, Reuters reported that BYD\'s stock prices took a sharp dive on fears that the car\'s battery might have been to blame for the fire. The price seemed to have recovered as of Wednesday morning. BYD was careful to point out that the e6 meets all of the safety requirements put forth by the Chinese government. The investigation into the cause of the fire is not complete, so placing blame on BYD\'s battery is premature.
