Tropical flamingos were found at a frozen pond in the Tomsk Region in western Siberia where temperatures were far below zero over the past two weeks, an official from the local natural resources department said on Monday. “We caught two birds. They were wounded, most likely by other birds. Now they are fine and will survive,” Maxim Danilenko said adding that the birds will be taken to a local zoo. He said he could not explain how the tropical birds found themselves in freezing Siberia. He said that something must have thrown them off course.
