Samsung Mobile Display Co. (SMD), a South Korean display maker, said Friday that it has signed a deal with a Japanese chemical firm to set up a joint venture to produce a high-end chemical material. The joint venture, which will be equally owned by Samsung Mobile Display and Ube Industries Ltd., will produce polyimide, a super heat-resistant resin.
