Nations of the globe celebrate the 40th anniversary of invention of mobile telephones on April 3 with figures showing a booming business that has reaped enormous profits for dealers and made connections for peoples across the globe so easy and cheap.According to figures released by Compu-data International (CDI), sales of the mobile telephone sets reached 482 million in the last quarter of last year, higher by 36.4 percent compared with sales recorded in the last quarter of the previous year. Total sales, last year, amounted to 1.7 billion sets,increasing by 1.2 percent in contrast to sales of the year before, reported the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA.The business of smart phones is booming, not only in terms of sales of sets, but also concerning deals in applications. Figures released by the Guidance Research showed that value of sales of applications of the mobile phones reached, last year, nearly $8 bn , with an increase of 27 percent compared to sales in 2011.
