Global Energy Security Conference

In the Global Energy Security Conference 2012,  Dr. Christopher Frei , the Secretary General of the  World Energy Council (WEC) presented the organization's energy  sustainability index  which is based on energy security, social equity and environmental impact mitigation. The Index rank measures overall performance and the balance score highlights how well a country manages the trade-offs between the three competing dimensions: energy security, energy equity, and environmental sustainability
The WEC energy sustainability index league table is led ( countries that scored the highest in the index which means they have most sustainable energy model)  by Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden and at the bottom  of the table you find Yemen, Benin and Zimbabwe.
The World Economic Forum has developed its own sustainability model; "The Global Energy Architecture Performance  Index" which assesses countries performances based on the ability of their energy architecture  to provide a secure, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply. Norway, New Zealand and France top the table of this index
The World Economic Forum was represented  at the Global Energy Security Conference 2014 by Mr Roberto Bocca, Head of Energy Industries, who presented a research study "Scaling Up Energy Access through Cross-sector Partnerships",  which was developed by the World Economic Forum in partnership with Pricewaterhouse Coopers  and intended to help unlock the business opportunity through new business models for energy access in the mini-grid/ off-grid market segment.
The 2012 Global Energy Security conference, featured  a case study of Morocco by the Moroccan Minister of Energy and the CEO  of the Moroccan National Grid. Although the  country is poor in terms of energy resources, Morocco has successfully increased its electrification rate in  rural areas from 18% in 1995 to 98% currently and it has ambitious plans to reach 40% of its energy sources through renewables by 2020. To achieve this Morocco has launched last month the world 's largest solar plant
