There is yet no report of human injury or property loss as a result of the quake, according to Greek national news agency AMNA.

The epicenter was estimated at a depth of 19 km below the sea level, Greek seismologists said.

Located at the complex boundary zone between the African Plate and the Eurasian Plate, Greece is frequently hit by earthquakes, mostly causing no significant damage. The most destructive earthquake the country has experienced in recent years occurred in 1999, which killed some 140 people.
