An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted 170km ENE of Miyako, Japan at 15:58:04 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 40.2933 degrees north latitude and 143.7539 degrees east longitude.
