More than 100,000 people took part in the 10-day Emirates Environmental

More than 100,000 volunteers collected over 110 tonnes of waste during a nationwide clean-up drive.
The 10-day Emirates Environmental Group initiative, organised across 146 locations, is considered the UAE’s biggest environmental clean-up to date.
"The 15th edition of the Clean-Up UAE campaign is one of the country’s most successful initiatives in community engagement and reflects our keenness to protect the environment," said Habiba Al Marashi, EEG chairperson.
Equipped with biodegradable trash bags, cotton re-usable gloves and wearing T-shirts, and caps, 125,536 volunteers were deployed at various sites to collect waste from December 5-15 including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah as well as Al Ain, Dibba Al Hisn, Khor Fakkan and the Western Region.
EEG encourages community participation to promote responsible behavior.
Next year’s campaign will be held under the slogan ‘Together for a Better Environment’.
