Minister of Environment Khaled Fahmi

A delegation of North Sinai chieftains and investors thanked Minister of Environment Khaled Fahmi for his efforts in establishing development in North Sinai.
Fahmi was the first minister of tender his resignation during the rule of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and to receive applications for investment in Al Zaranik Nature Park and ordered the formation of a committee to probe the issue, Director of Sina Salt Company Sheikh Moussa said during a press conference held by the minister with Bedouins and investors in North Sinai on Monday night.
The ministry is adopting a new strategy for investment inside nature parks in conformity with environment-related conditions, the minister said.
The government continues to develop Sinai as it is the best way to confront terrorism in the peninsula, he added.
He stressed the importance of Al Zaranik Nature Park as being one of the most important stop-overs in bird migration in North Sinai.
Situated at the eastern end of Lake Bardawil on the Mediterranean coast of Sinai, the park was established in 1985, and extends over 250 square kilometers (68% water surface and 32% sand dunes). being the meeting point of international migrating birds flying from the north to the south.
