H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, has paid a visit to the strategic project for water reserve in Liwa, Western Region. The project is aimed at preserving groundwater and its sustainability.
During the visit, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the project's implementation phases and hailed the efforts exerted during the set period.
He underscored the importance of the project in the light of the wise vision of the Abu Dhabi Government and the implementation of its strategic plan 2030. He added that the UAE's leadership has recognised the need to increase strategic reserves of water to enable the emirate to rank first in the Arab region in this regard, as well as the increase of the investors' confidence in various sectors.
Sheikh Hamdan indicated that the establishment of a strategic water storage is a strategic initiative and embodies the leadership's far-sighted vision to make it a national treasure for the coming generations.
He also cited that the project is one of the most important alternatives to increase the strategic reserves of fresh water in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to meet the needs of consumption in emergency conditions.
He reiterated the need to preserve groundwater, noting that the country exerts relentless efforts to provide water supplies for Emiratis and expatriate residents.
A number of Sheikhs and officials accompanied Hamdan during the visit.
