Egypt’s continuing heatwave took the death toll to 61 since Saturday, said Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.

The highest mortality rates are in Cairo, Abdel Ghaffar said in exclusive statements to Al Arabiya Al Hadath Channel on Wednesday.

The deaths were mostly of elderly people and children and those with chronic diseases, he added.
