Addis Ababa - MENA
Egyptian Minister of Irrigation Hossam Moghazy said that he will meet with his Sudanese and Ethiopian counterparts in Khartoum next week to determine the consultant office that will prepare water and environmental studies of the Ethiopian renaissance dam.
Two offices are competing to prepare the studies, he said in statements on Tuesday.
The two offices may be integrated into one consortium to draw up the studies, he said.
Asked about criticism for not listing Egypt's share in the Nile River which amounts to 55 billion cubic meters in the Declaration of Principles signed in Khartoum yesterday, Moghazy said that this share was set in the Egyptian-Sudanese agreement signed 1959.
"Ethiopia has not signed this agreement at that time; how could it accept this quota now," he said.
