Dubai - WAM
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, have recently dedicated a day for volunteer work at the Senses Residential and Day Care Centre for Special Needs in Dubai.
16 volunteers, including DEWA employees and summer training students, spent a full day with the children, providing them with support and participating in various activities with them. The volunteer team included 10 employees, including a person of determination, and 6 trainees. The activity is part of DEWA’s Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, and its humanitarian and volunteer work during the #Year of Giving.
Speaking on the event, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said, "His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, once observed, ‘The fastest way to happiness is by instilling happiness in the hearts of others’. DEWA’s CSR initiatives are an integral part of its strategic plan, and its efforts to serve society. DEWA instils the spirit of volunteering among its employees, as well as community members. DEWA employees take part in several volunteer activities inside and outside the UAE, as they believe that humanitarian work is one of the reasons of true happiness. Our staff registered about 40,000 volunteer hours between 2013 and 2016, as part of DEWA’s efforts to achieve the Dubai Plan 2021 to build an inclusive society that embraces common civic values."
