Abu Dhabi - WAM
Abu Dhabi City Municipality recently organised a social recreational sports event at Swimming Pool No. 2 in Bahia, as part of the ‘Our Swimming Pools’ initiative.
The initiative is part of a series of social, sports and recreational activities where the municipality has set up a plan to stage scores of activities in partnership with the community. The aim is to activate health and sports values and encourage community members to participate in sport as an integral part of their culture and healthy habits.
The Women's Police of Rahba Police Station helped in organising the event, while Medical Cosmetic Hospital offered free consultations and medical tests for women and children.
The event attracted more than 1,000 women and children along with hordes of supporters who interacted with exciting shows and events.
In addition, the municipality paid great attention to family producers, by holding a Productive Families’ Exhibition as part of the event. These initiatives are part of the Community Charitable Markets Project for areas beyond Abu Dhabi in order to support productive families and provide them with an appropriate venue to market their products, as well as incentivising productivity among the youth. The initiative also reflects the municipality’s commitment to participate in the humanitarian and charitable initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who declared 2017 as the '#Year of Giving'.
